Ms. Dula is the Educator of the Year 2025! Ms. Dula is the Educator of the Year for 2025! Show Transcript and now it is with joy and deep appreciation that I offer my warmest congratulations to miss Alicia Doula Gordon Parks Academy teacher of the year here and Honor made even more special because it comes from the very people who work beside her every day her fellow educators this recognition truly reflects the incredible impact Mula has made now only in the lives of their students but across our entire School community her dedication is to Excellence is unwavering whether she is guiding her students with passion and purpose collaborating with her peers or lending her voice to the school Leadership Council and morning announcement team Miss Doula brings care and a deep sense of commitment to everything that she does her colleagues see it and they feel it the nomination speaks volumes about our admiration and respect for his Doula not just for what she does but who she is beyond the classroom is Doula has left a lasting mark quite literally on a very walls of our school through the years she has transformed our hallways and shared spaces into vibrant uplifting works of art while our building have been constructed in 1905 when you walk inside you are welcome into a living gallery that are reflects creativity pride and heart and this is thanks to miss doula's vision and talent of course these are the kinds of things that we expect to hear about a teacher of the year skill creativity leadership but there's something deeper that makes Miss Doula truly extraordinary Miss doula's story is rooted in a legacy of strength determination and community she comes from a proud lineage of African-American Heroes and Kairos who built their own town in North Carolina Doula Town North Carolina it's on the map it's home to more than 3,000 residents like her ancestors Miss Doula carries forward a tradition of excellent Excellence as an author educator and artist and entrepreneur a leader a person who up lifts others it is clear that her Heritage and is not only a source of Pride but also the inspiration that she pours into her work and shares with all of us Miss Doula we are so proud to celebrate you thank you for your extraordinary contributions to our school and for helping to make it a place where students flourish and educators feel seen supported and inspired congratulations Miss Doula and thank you for being exactly who you are and now I want to take the time to share with you the certificates that were issued to miss Doula and to Miss Burns on the night of the board meeting the board has um gone from moved from giving plaques to giving certificates but I felt it was important that um the the certificates be placed on a plaque and that we um the community important Parks community of Educators and students present them with plaques so these were done for the 2 of them I see if I can get it positioned well enough that you can see it right I think that's it so this is Miss doula's plaque and this is the 1 from the commissioner of Education this is the certificate that was given and we put it on a plaque for her this 1 is the plaque that was given to Miss Burns from and the certificate came from the commissioner of Education and then there was certificate from the district and so again thought it best and there we go I think that's it to have the certificate placed on a nice plaque that will be forever um hopefully on their walls so boys and girls team members again when you see Miss Doula and or Miss Burns in the hallway please give them a big congratulations and students a big hug have a great day everyone
