About Principal Dr. Erika D. Cooke
Dr. Erika D. Cooke will proudly serve as Principal of Gordon Parks Academy for the 2026 - 27 school year. With more than 20 years of experience in the East Orange School District, she has served as a classroom teacher at Althea Gibson Academy, a Teacher Trainer in the Curriculum Department, Assistant Principal of Sheila Y. Oliver Academy, and most recently as Interim Principal of Gordon Parks Academy.
Throughout her career, Dr. Cooke has remained committed to fostering academic excellence, building strong relationships with students, families, and staff, and creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming school community. She believes that open communication, collaboration, and trust are the foundation of student success and is honored to continue partnering with the Gordon Parks Academy community to ensure every child thrives.

Location: Weather permitting, on the playground area on corner of Greenwood Avenue and William Street. If the weather is too hot or raining, we will move inside to the Wellness Room on the 1st floor.
Activities: There will be music, lawn games, and light refreshments.
